| “Reading a book is like re-writing it for yourself. You bring to a novel, anything you read, all your experience of the world. You bring your history and you read it in your own terms.” |
I chose this quote because it really describes me as a reader because what the quote is saying is exactly what i do when I read. What the quote is saying is, when you read a book you are re-creating it in your own way. So when you read and a new character is introduced you imagine what the character looks like from what you have seen in the past or from a familiar face. When you read you bring your history into your book, if something is happening that you have experienced you can relate to what the character is feeling. What I do when I read I picture the characters off of familiar faces. For Example in the book I'm reading right now i picture two of the characters as famous actors, the aunt that takes care of the main character is Wanda Sykes and a really smart paranoid man is Denis Quaid. I feel that this quote really relates to me because it is explaining what I do when I read a book.
This is an excellent start Jason. You have explained the quote in your own words and related it specifically to your experiences as a reader. You seem to really use your visual spatial strengths to your advantage when you read. That is a good reading strategy to make sense of what you are reading.
ReplyDeletei really like how you related it yo yourself and showed a good reading strategy. i also like the quote
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing when I read a book. I like the way you read a book and make connections to yourself and others you know. This post is very well done and all these different elements of the story connect to each other.Great job.
